My treatment ended in March/April of ’08. It wasn’t until the end of that summer that I started to feel I wasn’t depressed. Even when I went on vacation to Saint Lucia, I was kind of depressed, even though it was such a beautiful place.
Well, you know I grew up wanting to be a Clemson Tiger and I ended up being able to play there and I went to school there.
My parents were great at making sure I got out of bed when I needed to play football on a Sunday morning and that I was ready after school to go to training on a Tuesday and Thursday. But it was never forced upon me or rammed down my throat. If it had been, I could have ended up hating sport.

I’ve been asked to do ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and I do get asked to do all sorts of things like that – but I don’t want to put my career on hold. I’d have to take three weeks off to do something like that. Maybe it’s something I’d think about after it’s all ended.

When I tried to play characters that strayed from who I am it ended in disaster. People didn’t expect me in comedies or musicals.
Of course, tax revenues have ended up being substantially higher than they were at the time these dire projections were made, and we are very close now to having a balanced budget. All that has been very helpful.

I’m surprised as anyone about where I’ve ended up. Maybe it’s because I say yes to things.
